Good Morning!  Wham! Bam! Slap! Whoop, there it is!  Dangling in front of you, all shiney and enticing, looking good, smelling good, waving at you, beckoning to you, smiling at you, winking at you, calling your name, and then…… GOT YA!  I don’t know what IT is for you, but I’m talking about temptation.  Only you can put a face and/or name to it as far as you are concerned.  But whatever the case may be, temptation is a bonafide stronghold that can sneak up on you, seemingly coming from nowhere, and can lure you in with a choke hold.

Good Morning!  You know what they say, “birds of a feather flock together”.  What birds are you flocking with today?  You know that eagles don’t hang with buzzards, don’t you?  What type of magnetic field are you throwing out?  If your life is filled with undeseriable and destructive people and events, you have to ask yourself what are you putting out there to draw such attention.

What a difference a day makes!  Actually, we can say that about this week.  It’s been an active week as far as celebrity deaths are concerned.  Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson.  Farrah and Michael dying just today (I’m writing this on Thursday) within hours of one another.  And though others have also passed this week, you may not know who they are because they are not celebrities.  But they’re important and loved by someone nonetheless.  We began this week by losing nine souls in the subway train wreck in Washington D.C.  A dear friend of ours, brother passed on Wednesday.  There are countless others who have passed on just this week alone.

Good Morning!   Everyone wants to be on a winning team.  No one wants to lose.  In school, I was usually considered an underdog when it came to competitive sports.  I was normally the last one picked when the team captains were forced to choose team mates.  That always hurt my feelings, but now that I’m older (much older), I understand.  When you assemble an ensemble or team of people you want to help you succeed, you choose those whom you know will bring you to the winner’s circle.

Good Morning everyone!   When I was a girl, I loved this song by The Jackson 5.  It wasn’t a very popular song, I don’t think, but it was on one of the albums I had.  I was a J5 fanatic and I can so vividly recall the many days and hours I spent listening to their albums.  This particular song was “Look Into The Window” – (the window of my heart).  I was only about 11 years old then, but I remember developing a fascination for the concept of “window” as something other than the glass paned square that we hang curtains on.

Good Morning!  Yesterday was a pretty emotionally charged day for me.  It wasn’t a bad day; just one of those when all you want is to submerge into a nice soothing bath and say “Calgon, take me away!”   Stuff happens.  Sometimes you just want to escape from it all.

People often shrug away from the word “stewardship”.  Too often we believe that it is something that is too difficult for us to master, or that it’s all about money.  We don’t like difficult things and we definitely do not like to part with “our” money.  Don’t be dismayed, I am not writing this to suggest that you attempt something that is not easy for you to accomplish, nor is this about “your” money.  Yet, it is about stewardship.

What, then, is stewardship?  A working definition I choose to live by is simple: 

Stewardship is what you do with what you’ve been given.

My Daddy - Michael Young, Sr.

We have always been regular, ordinary people.  There is nothing extraordinary or special about my life.  Never has been.  We’re just plain ol’ folks.  My childhood was a normal life, just a sequence of family events that color my world today.  We’ve functioned as a family unit lead by a great pair of parents who loved their children.  They were the example for me and my siblings, and now as adults, we are also just ordinary people, living normal lives as we carry on the legacy.
