AMPLIFIED

As a speaker, I am familiar with microphones.  As someone who sings and direct others in song or in drama and/or speech, I am familiar with microphones.  I know that a microphone not connected to an amplifier has no power.  Once the amp is connected, the microphone becomes a powerful tool for the user.  The person do not have to exert themself to be heard.  The voice will carry notches louder than what that person is projecting.

Fear can be viewed as an amplifier.  (more…)

*Repost

This open letter is the result of a conversation I had in my head.  It is a conversation that I imagined having with someone who plays a big role in the dysfunction of a precious family I know.  Although the family’s situation is  different than my own, I can relate to the position the wife of this family is in.  (more…)

This is who I am

I am feeling overjoyed and extremely grateful tonight.  With all of the pressure and scarey situations I am facing, God again is showing me that I have so much to be thankful for.  For all of the uncertainties and fears that glare me in the face, God has shown me all of my blessings.  (more…)

How Did You Know?

Faith,Family,Inspiration | Wednesday July 22 2009 12:53 pm | Comments (3)

That’s a question I get quite often from different people.  I got it today from my daughter Tiffanie.  Those who keep up with me know that Tiff is a recent college graduate who’s working at her first “real” job.  It’s a learning experience for her, but overall she likes the job.  I don’t know if this is just mother’s intuition, but yesterday I decided to text her.  Now, note that I do NOT like texting!  I hate it!  I rarely ever text anyone.  Unlike Tiff who seems to be able to text 100 words a minute!  I just hate it and prefer my computer and “real” keyboard.

Love  should be the easiest, most uncomplicated display of affection on every level.  It should be the simplest and most natural thing for us all.  Ideally, we learn love from a very young age.  In fact, love is inate and we all have the capability to love, and to be loved.

Anaiah Tobias - 10 weeks old

In 1994, I experienced something I never thought would happen to me.  Something that I wasn’t prepared for.  Something I think that no one could ever possibly be prepared for.  Not the mental and emotional pain, that is.  I lost a baby and there was no explanation or reason as to why.  I had two older children and both of those pregnancies went very well.  In 1997, God blessed us with another pregnancy, another baby.  Of course it was an anxious time and I cannot tell you how frightening it was for me.  That is until we began to think of names for the new baby.

MOVE MOUNTAIN MONDAY – 7/13/09

MountainsHave you mountains in your life?  I know I do!  Huge mountains.  Overwhelming mountains.  Mountains of problems, uncertainity, stress, obstacles, etc.  You name it and I’m facing it.  Perhaps you are too.  I know I am not alone in all that I’m going through.  So, I would like to offer you a reminder I was recently given:

FREEDOM FRIDAY – 7/3/09

La Amistad

La Amistad

Good Morning!  We are approaching the 4th of July weekend in observance of America’s independence from England. A celebration of freedom.  A time to reflect on the foundation in which this country was supposedly built – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.  Indeed good principles, but as we know, this country fell way short in providing its core values to all people.

I took a picture of the blown tire immediately after it was removed from the van.

Good Morning!   Tonight I was storing some pictures on my computer and ran across one that made me automatically say “Thank You Lord!”  The picture was taken in 2002 and serves as a reminder of God’s awesome power.  Yes, I’m talking about that picture to the left; (more…)

WELCOME WEDNESDAY – 7/1/09

Good Morning!  Have you ever felt out of place?  Have you ever been in a place and knew that you were not welcomed there?  It’s not a good feeling.

I think it would be a good thing to treat everyone with genuine love, kindness, and hospitality.   You all know that I am a New Orleans native.  You can say what you want about my southern homeland, but one thing should be noted, folks from New Orleans treat you well and make you feel at home.  (more…)
