MY TRIBUTE  – by Carla Young Nix

Words escaped me when I heard of her passing

My heart filled with tears and ached with sadness.

I see her many times when I look in the mirror

But it is her sweet, gentle, love I’ll always remember.

I want to pay tribute to my dear aunt Lula Mae

As we reflect on her life and memories today.

How could I properly give homage, I wondered within

What could I possibly say about my precious kin?

Speak the truth, is what God spoke to me

Aunt Lu (left); My mom, Laura (right); Carla (center); My brother Ira (in front of me)

Aunt Lu (left); My mom, Laura (right); Carla (center); My brother Ira (in front of me)

Share of all she became to be.

So my tribute to Lu is to glorify God

For that is what she did with a wave, with a nod.

Today I praise the Lord, the One she loved to serve

I magnify His Name and rejoice in His Word.

I lift Him up and give Him all the praise

Never will forget that He is the only Way.

I am wrapped up, tied up, tangled up in Jesus

As Aunt Lu knew, He is the One who can keep us.

I worship You O Lord, and I bless your Holy Name

And I know that she would do the same.

She is, you know, for she is now truly free

She has experienced real victory.

I thank You Lord, for my life you have blessed

With the lovely spirit of Lu, who is safe in your arms, finally knowing sweet rest.
