WE FALL DOWN

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.  Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.”  Galatians 6:1-3 (ESV)

When all of the speculation of Tiger Woods broke days ago, I made a statement of Facebook that I stand by today.  We, the public, are just being nosy and it’s none of our business.  The growing reports and invasiveness of the media does what they do best to no surprise and we are soaking it all in with the attitude of, “See, I knew it!”

I find it amazing how “we” just love it when we hear of unfortunate news about others, especially when an image is shattered that once displayed “perfection”.  Therein lies the problem.  Nobody is perfect.  We place people on pedestals, then we enjoy watching them fall because we find out that they’re just like us.  There is something very dysfunctional about that in my opinion.

I believe that we need to leave Tiger Woods alone and let him work out his issues in private.  Why do we want to crucify him for his personal failure on a public level?  Why do we want to place him under a magnifying glass that would reveal the same transgressions that many people are committing today?  Please don’t get me wrong; I am NOT condoning his sin.  I am not even judging him.  In fact, I don’t even personally know what he’s done.  All I do know is what he said and I know that there is not one among us who has not sinned in one way or another.  We all have our failures, we have all fallen, we have all sinned, we have all stepped out of line, we have all let somebody down, we have all made mistakes, we are all in need of forgiveness.  The difference is, most of us are not in the public eye.  Yet, the one thing we all have in common is that God sees and knows all and even if nobody else knows what we may have done, He knows!

So, for those who are pointing fingers and who are ready to crucify Tiger Woods, ask yourself…..what do you need to settle between you and God?  Where have you fallen short in your life?  Who have you hurt?  Who have you sinned against?  What have you done?  What are your transgressions?

Don’t think more highly of yourself than you ought while putting someone else down.  Get your own house in order.

Blessings!

sistah Carla, I’ll speak on it. You hit the nail right on the head. This isn’t news, it’s gossip. If it’s settled with his wife and as you said, God already knows, then it’s nobody elses business. Amen and Amen.
