As God is bringing us through a spiritual storm, and to our deliverance, even though our physical eyes can’t see the destination, a dear friend and brother in Christ gave me some very sound advice recently. He pointed me to my Bible and encouraged me to prayerfully re-visit scripture that I’d previously read and studied before. How would I know which ones God would have me to “hear” His voice loud and clear today? They would be from passages that I’d already underlined, noted, and highlighted in the past. Granted, there are many that I’d walked through before. But my friend, Bishop James Brown is so correct because I haven’t even gotten started good yet and it as though God is YELLING at me with His words as I re-read His Holy Word. As we know, His Word is not new. There is nothing there that wasn’t there before. It’s not like someone went back and decided to put something else there. God’s Word is the same today, yesterday, and forever more.

So, I would like to share just a snippet of the same old story that God has to say to me, that holds true today, as it ministers deeply to me as I go through this valley moment. I thank God for His Word and know that He is bringing us through. I pray that this blesses you today as well.

THIS BATTLE IS NOT MINE, IT’S THE LORD’S

“And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.” I Samuel 17:47

I’M LOOKING AT MYSELF AS A GRASSHOPPER – I’VE BECOME OVERWHELMED BY GIANTS

“And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:33

I MUST REMEMBER THAT MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

GOD IS WITH ME EVERYWHERE! THERE IS NOWHERE I CAN GOD THAT GOD ISN’T.

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139: 7-10

EVEN DURING THOSE TIMES WHEN I DON’T THINK HIGHLY OF MYSELF, I AM STILL A VIRTUOUS WOMAN!

“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Proverbs 31:28

I AM SANCTIFIED AND ORDAINED BY GOD.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 1:5-8

GOD HAS GREAT PLANS FOR ME!

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

OTHERS NEED TO SEE HIM THROUGH ME!

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING – GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF ME!

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:31-24

…..And finally….

Somehow, I missed this one in my initial re-visit, but later, God just opened up the Bible to this passage, it seems. I don’t know how I missed it, but it was as though God made a point for me to see it. So I truly made sure I paid attention, as He wanted me get this through my thick skull.

HE IS MY PROVIDER NO MATTER HOW DISMAL THINGS LOOK!

“And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.” Genesis 22:11-14

Jehovah-jireh means the Lord will provide! This is exactly what God wants me to know and to remember. His Word hasn’t changed, He hasn’t changed, He still speaks to you and I. We must still trust Him no matter what it looks like.

Blessings!

Our devotional reading tells us that God has begun a good work in us and that He will complete it. Our enemy knows this as well and is determined to get us down from the wall. He wants to stop us from doing the work that God has planted in us. It is the enemy’s plan to distract us and throw out road blocks so that we cannot focus or complete the work. The enemy is crafty and he comes in many forms. Some more subtle than others, but some that are glaring and loud. But if we don’t recognize his games, we can easily be hoodwinked and taken in by the craftiness.
